Sponsorships for leaves has now closed

Thankyou to all the wonderful people who have sponsored leaves for the tree. We have over 1000 sponsors who have helped us raise a significant amount of money to purchase the steel and welding materials to create the tree. Leaves have been sponsored in the names of loved ones lost to the fire, survivors, friends, dogs, cats, horses and kangaroos that perished in the fires, firefighters, CFA divisions, recovery organisations, Australians overseas, names of properties destroyed in the fire, garden clubs, tennis clubs, local businesses and all those who which to express their sorrow, compassion and hope for the future.

As of the beginning of September 2009, the blacksmiths still have around 650 leaves to make. Another 400 are made and are waiting to be polished and photographed before the photos are sent to each sponsor. So, if you haven't received the photo of your leaf yet, it's just taking our small team some time to make, polish and photograph each one. We're grateful for your patience. We also have a couple of people sorting the leaves into family groups and groups sponsored by the same person so that those leaves can be on the same branch.

If you still wish to sponsor a leaf for the tree, we do make special exceptions, especially for people who have lost someone to the fire. Just and we'll make arrangements to add another leaf to the tree.
